BIOGRAPHY

"Being a musician is the biggest privilege in my life. Playing the piano is the only way to speak out the truth of my soul."

Mia Angelova is a classical pianist who grew up in Varna, the cultural capital of Bulgaria. Inspired by her mother, a pianist and physicist, she started playing the piano at the age of 6. A few years later, at the age of 15, Mia made her debut as a soloist with orchestra playing Edward Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor. Further international performances and competitions as a soloist and chamber musician followed on big stages in Italy, France, Greece, Austria, in her home country Bulgaria, as well as in the Czech Republic, Romania and Poland.

Also, at the age of 15, Mia was invited by the Bulgarian conductor George Zanev to perform as a soloist in the Vienna Konzerthaus. Her formal education began at the music high school "Dobri Hristov" (graduating with distinction) in Varna after which she continued her studies as a concert pianist with Univ.-Prof. Karl Barth at the Private Music and Art University of Vienna. In 2013, she made her debut as a soloist at the renowned Wiener Musikverein playing works by Beethoven, Schumann and Liszt.

In addition to studying in Vienna, Mia worked with many international pianists such as Paul Badura Skoda, Murray Perahia, Henri Sigfridsson, Daniel Barenboim and Mauricio Vallina. In 2015, she was selected to perform as a soloist with the Austrian star pianist Till Fellner with works by Beethoven at the Musikverein in Vienna.

Mia Angelova is a laureate of numerous competitions in Bulgaria, Austria, Germany, Greece and Italy. Her piano repertoire primarily includes the piano sonatas and piano concertos by Mozart and Beethoven, the late sonatas by Franz Schubert and numerous works by Chopin, Liszt, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff.

In addition to her artistic career, Mia decided to pursue entrepreneurial ambitions in the music world as well. In 2017, she established the Vienna International Music & Art Center (VIMAC) together with her sister, also a very talented musician and quickly grew it to one of the largest private music institutes in Austria. VIMAC aims to build a bridge between professional musicians, music students and music lovers. The broad offer at VIMAC ranges from music lessons for children and adults to concert and event management for professional musicians as well as the organization and hosting of both, master classes and concerts with world-famous musicians and teachers such as Zakhar Bron, Kirill Troussov, Aleksey Igudesmann, Hyungki Joo , Zoryana Kuschpler and Nikolai Demidenko.

Since 2020, Mia Angelova has been expanding her repertoire to include new music genres such as film music and jazz. In summer 2020 she founded the innovative ensemble "Project Femme Musical" with violinist Ralitsa Angelova and cellist Anna Maria Niemiec. The project is focused on the modern interpretation of Spanish and Argentinian music, on tango and film music.
